Welcome to Actone Records
London has a jazz music scene that
rivals that of any city in the world. With innovative and professional
players around the capital showing every day and night that jazz is alive and swinging
in London.
Actone Records has been formed to provide an outlet for jazz fans around the
world to hear the fine jazz musicians playing around London. Actone Records
co-founder Don Burrell said "As a drummer I've been playing sessions in
London for many years with great musicians who have been under-recorded in
the past. With Actone Records I want to get people like Bob Martin,
Alan Berry, and Terry Smith heard by a wider audience."
Don's Actone Records co-founder Fred Fuller agrees: "These musicians have a
great following in London. Jazz fans will travel miles to see them play,
they attract a really loyal fan base.
Actone Records will give fans an opportunity to hear their favourite music at home!"
2 plus 2 makes 5!
Actone Records is pleased to announce our fifth release.
Following the fantastic response to Jim Richardson's Chapter One CD last
year we are delighted to present another session from Jim's archive.
2 plus 2 contrasts duo performances by Jim Richardson and guitarist Jim
Mullen, with the more conventional quartet line-up with the two Jims
joined by Don Weller on tenor sax and Chris Dagley on drums.
An eclectic mix, the session features tunes by George Gershwin, Charlie Parker,
Cole Porter,
and Earth, Wind, and Fire.
