Welcome to Actone Records

London has a jazz music scene that rivals that of any city in the world. With innovative and professional players around the capital showing every day that jazz is alive and swinging in London.

Actone Records has been formed to provide an outlet for jazz fans around the world to hear the fine jazz musicians playing around London. Actone Records co-founder Don Burrell said "As a drummer I've been playing sessions in London for many years with great musicians who have been under-recorded in the past. With Actone Records I want to get  people like Bob Martin, Alan Berry, and Terry Smith  heard by a wider audience."

Don's Actone Records co-founder Fred Fuller agrees: "These musicians have a great following in London. Jazz fans will travel miles to see them play, they attract a really loyal fanbase. Actone Records will give an for the fans to hear their favourite music at home!"

Don has organised jazz sessions in bars all over London for many years. Currently Don and Fred present a regular Sunday afternoon jazz session at the Grand Junction Arms in Harlesden in West London. Check out who is playing this month by clicking on the Live Jazz button.

Actone Records first two releases are : Biorhythm, featuring altoist Bob Martin, pianist Alan Berry and bassist Val Mannix, and Tenderly by guitarist Terry Smith's trio featuring Pete Whittaker on organ. Don provides the drumming on both sessions.

Actone Records latest release is Bittersweet Blue by Don Burrell's Orjam.  Don chooses some favourite tunes for a spectacular workout with some of London's finest jazz talent. Brandon Allen on tenor and Alex Garnett on alto show why they are considered two of the best young saxophonists on the scene today. Terry Smith brings his usual delicate guitar work to the proceedings, while Pete Whittaker never misses a trick on organ.
